Abstract

An experimental program was designed in the current work to examine the structural behavior of ferrocement tank under static pressure loads. The experimental program consists of construction and testing of two ferrocemnt tanks having the dimensions of 800 mm width, 800 mm length and 400 mm wall height. The wall and footing thickness is 40 mm and 70 mm; respectively. The two tanks were different in the type of reinforcements; welded and expanded wire meshes. The structural performances of the all tested tanks in terms of strength, cracking behavior and energy absorption were investigated. The results of the experimental tests indicated that tank reinforced with two layers of welded wire meshes has the highest first crack and ultimate load and it has the maximum energy absorption.
