The implementation of fuzzy logic (FL) and proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers are used to improve the step response of the hybrid stepper motor. The numerical simulations by a PC-based controller show that the PID controller tuned by genetic algorithm produces better performance than tuned by fuzzy controller. Fuzzy PID-like controller gives better performance than the other linear fuzzy controllers.
